Disneyland Resort has successfully completed another year of magic, in 2018. The year 2018 also brought changes, learn the biggest changes Disneyland Resort saw.

All Marathons Cancelled At Disneyland For 2018

Confirmed, all runDisney race weekends and marathons at Disneyland Resort (California) are cancelled starting 2018. The last runDisney event Disneyland held was the Super Heroes Half Marathon Weekend at Disneyland Resort November 9-12 (2017)and could be the last for years to come.  Reasons stated, the level of construction for Disneyland Resort expansion will inhibit positive guests experiences. Disney will continue to offer races at: Walt Disney World Resort, Disneyland Paris and virtual race series.

Mobile-Ordering Started At Disneyland Resort 

Mobile Ordering allows guests to pre-order and pre-pay for their food, saving time waiting in line. Mobile Ordering recently expanded through the Disneyland App and now accommodates more than 20 participating locations. Newest additions include Edelweiss Snacks, Refreshment Corner, Royal Street Veranda and Stage Door Café. Order anywhere on Disneyland Resort, even while in line for an attraction! This is a fantastic addition to guests experience at Disneyland Resort.

New Brickwork On Main Street USA (March 2018)

Main St USA at Disneyland went under refurbishment early 2018, it resulted in the brickwork being replaced. This was also the first time in history Disney had replaced the streetcar track. The original pieces of the track are said to be preserved elsewhere.

It’s Tough To Be A Bug Closed (March 19, 2018)

It’s Tough To Be A Bug closed on March 19, 2018 at Disneyland Resort. Guests of Disney World can still see this classic.

Pirates of The Caribbean Refurb (Summer 2018)

Pirates of the Caribbean reopened At Disneyland Park in Summer 2018, after its refurbishment to update the auction scene. The Wench scene was removed from auction. Now, the woman with Red hair is a pirate named, Redd. The auction scene now is an auction of goods, with Redd in a talking role.

A Bug’s Land Closed (September 4, 2018)

A Bug’s Land opened in 2002 at California Adventure Park. However, after a long run this land is now closed. This is to make way for the new Super-Hero themed land in 2020.

Meet & Greet With Vampirina (September 7, 2018)

Guests of Disney California Adventure park can meet & greet with the Disney Junior star, Vampirina. Find your Vampire Pal in Hollywood Land. Also, opening on 2/1/19 is the Disney Junior Dance Party, which Vampirina will also be in.

Tropical Hideaway Opens (December 2018)

Tropical Hideaway is now open at Disneyland Park. Find this new marketplace area between Jungle Cruise & Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room. Rosita now greets guests on the dock, making small talk with visitors. Discover the traders marker, colorful wildlife at the Hideaway and more.

Play Disney Parks App

The Play Disney Parks app is now available for free download from Google Play and the App Store. Turn waiting in line at Disney World and Disneyland into play time. keeps getting better and better, now with Free Fortunes for guests at Disneyland park.

Guests of Disneyland Park can now visit Esmeralda the Fortune Teller on Main St USA and Fortune Red in New Orleans Square to collect more than 12 new fortunes and stories. Each day guests visit the park can get their fortune (from each location), for free. Also get a piece of a story for each visit. Your fortune will still be printed on a collectible card, plus get a card with part of your story.

10 New Shopping, Dining & Experience at Downtown Disney District

Downtown Disney District at Disneyland Resort has grown in 2018. Read 10 new shopping, dining or experiences added.

  1. Star Wars: Secrets of the Empire by ILMxLAB and The VOID, a hyper-reality experience putting you in the middle of a Star Wars story.
  2. Disney Home, shop Disney themed home merchandise including glassware, kitchen goods and more.
  3. Splitsville Luxury Lanes, 2-stories of dining & entertainment, featuring 20 bowling lanes and more.
  4. The Disney Dress Shop, shop boutique and retro apparel and accessories.
  5. Naples Ristorante e Bar, dine inside, including an upstairs area or at the outdoor patio & bar.
  6. Salt & Straw, a family run ice cream shop with unique and local flavors.
  7. World of Disney, now re-imagined, shop the new layout and look for magical touches.
  8. Ralph Breaks VR, ILMxLAB, The Void has also added this exciting hyper-reality experience to its list.
  9. Napolini, guests can create their own Neopolitan style pizzas at this eatery.
  10. Wetzel’s Pretzels, stop by for a house made pretzel or lemonade (fresh or frozen).

Confirmed for 2019 at Downtown Disney District, guests can look forward to Ballast Point brewery and Black Tap Craft Burgers & Shakes.
